Ah, Joy! The transformation of the heart! When we are bursting with happiness, we love the world and the world loves us. Our bliss sweeps out in waves, drenching those around us with hope, light and cheer.

Fire is where we take all the tools we have learned in our lives, and all the experiences we have had, and transform ourselves and our world through love. We are so filled with abundance from receiving, that we overflow with generosity. We share in Fire - our stories, our resources, our authentic selves. Knowing we are part of a more grand story, we have found peace with our purpose, and trust we will receive all we need when we need it. Fire is where we transform beliefs and experiences with love, creating the ashes from which Earth draws her resources.

Fire governs the years from 41 to 54. During this period, we are given a choice - innocent or victim? If we have allowed our life's journey to convince us that the world is unfair, hard, cruel and demanding, then we move into our Fire years with little to no passion. Listlessly, we move through our remaining years with duty and drudgery. We become stingy with ourselves and our resources, fearing we will not have enough. When we reach the Earth element, the time of Service and restoration, we may become resentful of maintaining the environment for others who seem to be enjoying life. The ashes we create from this place will be unable to restore and nurture the Earth environment.

Or, do we instead choose Innocence? Innocence is not something we are born with and then have taken away from us. It is something we choose as adults. What is innocence but the ability to feel awe and wonder at the world, and to move through each day in trust, appreciation and leisure? Think of how powerful that kind of choice is - to reject the idea that the world is hostile and out to get you, and that instead, it supports you in Pronoia! Retirement used to be a way to reconnect with our childlike passion for life. You don't have to wait until you retire to claim those feelings. As you appreciate the things you have in your life, they grow. Even if you have one hour a week of free time, be fully present for it and feel it completely. Then take that feeling into the rest of your life, one moment at a time.

Our Fire energy is dramatic and passionate, particularly during childhood. If we don't provide enough healthy drama and theater in our lives, that Magical Child archetype will be sure to stir up the pot all around us and create drama everywhere we turn. Our Fire Power is the Storyteller, and knows how to roam the archetypal waters looking for a good, dramatic story. When a story pleases us and makes us laugh, we know that story is for us. Our pleasure centers keep us focused on the right personal path, in the midst of countless choices.

Trust your fiery, passionate nature to laugh your way into the story of your best dreams. When you are living your best dreams, trusting and giggling, the transformation you create can sustain an entire community!

"The heart is a leisurely muscle. It differs from all other muscles. How many pushups can you make before the muscles in your arms and stomach get so tired that you have to stop? But your heart muscle goes on working for as long as you live. It does not get tired, because there is a phase of rest built into every single heartbeat. Our physical heart works leisurely. and when we speak of the heart in a wider sense, the idea is implied that life-giving leisure lies at the very center....Seen in this light, leisure is not the privilege of a few who can afford to take time, but the virtue of all who are willing to give time to what takes time - to give as much time as a task rightly takes."
