FALL EQUINOX NEWSLETTERSeptember 23, 2011

3 – November 6
Because this is so relevant today, I am reposting the equinox newsletter from 2007.
Happy Fall Equinox! This annual event marks the time of year when the light and dark are perfectly balanced. The planet's vortex energy stops for a brief moment, then begins to move in the opposite direction from the past six months. Structures that depend on things moving a specific way will surely be demanding our attention these next six weeks. To better understand structures and how they work, let's look at language. Language defines our personal reality. By the words we choose, we convey to others our beliefs about the world. Not only are we sharing what we believe, we are also defining what we will allow in our lives. The choice of words, the way we say them, and the context in which we mean them all define how we will experience the world. Language is then a structure which allows specific experiences. For example, have you ever heard yourself say "oh, that could never happen" or "I'm not any good at that", or "I can't". Your words are defining what you believe is possible, therefore what you will allow in your life. The energy around us hears these words, says "ok" and moves on. Have you ever noticed that when you speak about scarcity (I'm broke, I don't have any money, etc) you seem to have even less? And when you speak from a place of abundance (I'm so lucky, I have so much, I am rolling in the dough, etc) you attract even more? This is the law of attraction at work. Now, when I watched "What the Bleep do we Know" (and I've seen it 4 times) the piece of information that I found most fascinating was this: our body is taking in 4 billion bits of information per second about the world around us. Think about that for a minute - 4 BILLION bits of information. That doesn't really mean anything, because who even knows what a bit is? But now here is the context: our conscious brain filters out everything except 2000 bits. How does the brain decide which 2000 bits to focus on? The bits that fit into our beliefs. So, we ignore 3-odd billion bits of information for the minuscule 2000 that confirm our world view. I find this simply fascinating! Therefore, our structures - our ideas and beliefs about the world and how it works - are always available to change. By shifting our view, and allowing our beliefs to expand, the world changes around us. This is called "creating your reality". Spend the next couple of days listening to what you say to people. How do your words limit your experiences? Do your words say NO to life, or do they say YES? Does your language create doorways for magic and mysticism, or does it make the world a small and bitter place? Do your words tell others that you are a victim of circumstance, and have no personal power? Or do your words tell others that you are in charge of your destiny, and move through a beautiful world grounded in trust? We live in a culture where words are power. When you attend an institution of learning, the language and context of a subject are presented as truth. The more you are invested in that "truth", the harder it will be for you to believe or be open to additional bits of information. (One reason why western medicine has such a hard time with alternative healing - they have far too much invested in the conventional western model). And then when words are used to deceive and manipulate, (think advertising and politics) we begin to mistrust language. It loses its value, and we become careless with it. This is a shame, because when we are careless with our language, we lose much of our personal power, and the ability to create a life of meaning and pleasure. Our words teach our children what the world is like. Even though they may find their own viewpoints as they grow, some of their most basic beliefs may be limited because of things heard when they were most impressionable. Hatred, bigotry, poverty, victimization - these are all beliefs that we are perpetuating by our language first and foremost. If words have that much power, can we transform our world simply by choosing different ones? Language may be the simplest way to change your personal reality. By committing to each and every word that comes out of your mouth, you practice a powerful form of creation. By choosing words of ownership (I have, I am, I can, I will, I believe, I trust, etc) we send a message to others, but also to our subconscious, that we are in charge of our lives. When we then align our actions to those words - our superpower becomes apparent. Move over Ninja Turtles! I have been teaching conscious language classes for over twelve years, and I have watched people catapult themselves into the life of their deepest desires simply by changing the structure of their vocabulary. By affirming their personal power and ability to create their desires; by opening up their structures for more magic and freedom; and by using fewer words of limitation and more words of love - each and every one of these people are making the world a better place. I invite you to raise the bar on your language, and whatever level you speak, up the ante. Talk about the world of beauty, of sharing, of equality, of compassion. Talk about the renaissance that our world is currently poised to enter, and share in detail what that amazing new world will look like for you. Talk about the world you long to inhabit, as though it were already here and you were waking up every morning passionate about your life. Talk about the fun of living. Talk about the pleasure and magic that is in each moment. Talk about the amazing intelligence of every single thing you encounter. Then watch with wonder as your world transforms into the land of your dreams. Blessings! Cat
