THE JOURNEY THROUGH THE FIVE HARMONICS™

The Five Harmonics™ is a map of how to live life in balance. Based on the 2,500 year old Chinese Five Element Tradition, this system reveals life as fractals. Patterns the planets and galaxies follow can be found at the cellular level of the human body. "As above, so below" is a famous axiom from ancient mystical traditions. As science finds out more and more about the cosmos, the subatomic realm, and human nature, these patterns converge. The resulting picture shows humans giving in to the same urges that create nebulas, black holes, and galaxies of breathtaking beauty.

I learned about the Chinese 5 Element Tradition from my first teacher, Taylor Blue. She had developed a unique therapy, Blueprint Energetics™, that combined physical symptoms, language and emotion. No matter what a person was experiencing, she was able to reveal the underlying patterns and hidden traumas. I completed the highest level of training she offered, then, with her blessing, took her work and pursued my own interests. That happened to be emotion.

For fourteen years I studied, researched, taught, made notes, and used my own life as a laboratory. I found that whenever I stated aloud to the universe, "I wonder ......" the universe threw the problem at me in real time and gave me an opportunity to live the answer. Layers upon layers of information appeared over the years. The system I have developed is an ever-evolving and living entity. I have been working on a book for seven years explaining the fundamental framework, and continually stopped writing as new information made the old obsolete. I have finally reached a point where I can offer this knowledge with confidence, knowing that even as it evolves beyond the book, the framework will stand strong.

The philosophy of the Five Harmonics™ is broken into five main areas. The first four Harmonics - Metal, Water, Wood and Fire - correspond to the four parts of being human. That is, the mind, the emotions, the physical body and the spirit. The Fifth Harmonic, Earth, represents the environment inhabited by the other four. The Four create the fifth. They are meant to work in balance, with equal time and equal resources. Much of our current planetary crisis is directly caused by our personal imbalances. The Five Harmonics™ is one of many systems available to help you chart a new course for yourself and your world. I hope you enjoy this brief walk through my world.

A Walk Through the Five Harmonics™

METAL- STRUCTURE- GRIEF- ARCHETYPE: ARCHITECT

The journey begins in Metal. Metal governs the years between birth and 13. Here is where we learn the rules of being a 3D human on planet Earth. Metal grounds us into a specific time/space coordinate. Here, we gather information about tribal structures, values and beliefs. We push on those around us to see where the boundaries are, and how strong they might be. We observe and watch the ideals that are spoken, and how those ideals are put into action. We learn what is spoken, and what is hidden. We move through the channels our tribe has built, finding ease in the most common, and challenge in the least popular. All of this gives us information about the time/space continuum we are expressing.

WATER - CHANGE - FEAR - ARCHETYPE: SHAPESHIFTER

From Metal we move to Water. Here we experience a disintegration of structures. It is as though we lose our ability to lock into any particular channel and instead, run up and down the spectrum of frequencies. Nothing is hidden from us in Water. If there are secrets, we will find them. If there are disconnections, we will see them. We become acutely aware of the discrepancies within our tribe, the areas where what they preach differ from how they act. We become disillusioned with the inconsistencies and outright lies our tribe presents, and the bigger our disillusionment, the more we reject their structures, or their channels. These years, from 14 to 26, are years of rebellion against hypocrisy and resistance to our elders frameworks that seem outdated and useless to the new world we are creating. We begin surfing the cyberspace of our imagination, looking for new and exotic ideas. This is often the time of experimentation with drugs, as drugs, particularly plant based, take us well beyond our perception of what it means to be human. You might say that in Water, we learn about the parts of ourselves that are outside the human spectrum. We flip through personalities like a deck of cards, never able to hold ourselves into one shape for very long. Each time we change shape, we gather information about the channel that shape is tuned to. During this 13 year period, we shift and change and pick up information that allows us to assemble our identity. Gathering various archetypes together, we form a personal identity for ourselves. Often during these years we need to leave the tribe, as their judgments will hold us into a particular shape, making it harder to practice and hold our new, and (we believe) improved identity. Water is a time of great change, shapeshifting, and experimentation with all potential. It is NOT time to ask our children to choose a life path.

WOOD - CHOICE - ANGER - ARCHETYPE: WARRIOR

Wood is a time of commitment, choice, pressure and action. Here is where we stand strong for our identity. THIS is who I am. THIS is how I will live my life. THESE are my dreams and goals in life, and here is how I plan to achieve them. Wood is a time of action, of forging ahead of the tribe. "I can do this, and I can do it my way on my terms with my results". Here we put our new beliefs, built upon our old beliefs, into action. Moving from Water, the place of all potential and possibility, we choose which path we are going to take, giving up the many for the few. Wood teaches us focus - keeping our eye on the target at all cost. These years, from 27 to 39, are where we learn how to concentrate on our goal, commit our resources to achieving that goal, and then dare the world to push us off our path. Wood loves crashing through the boundaries of limitation with force and single-minded focus. Wood is competitive, and loves to be first, biggest, fastest, and best. Wood is where we put our chosen identity on the line and prove our way is the best way. Wood is a blend of the tribal (Metal) values we approve of, new ideas and beliefs we have gathered from Water, and are now putting into action. We test our chosen path, often breaking new ground and standing firm while being challenged for our unusual or unorthodox way of being. Wood is single-minded attention, investing all our resources in one direction.

FIRE - TRANSFORMATION - JOY -ARCHETYPE: MAGICAL CHILD

In Fire, we walk in the realm of the Spirit and the Heart. Fire brings us to our creation story - a story that gives meaning to our past and places it into a more sophisticated context. A story that helps us make sense of the world, and how we fit in. A story that has the potential to open our hearts. From Fire, we are able to see how we were always co-creators of our lives. Fire is where we comprehend that our life is simply a story we are writing day by day, and we are the only one responsible for our particular story.

In Fire, we make a choice to either look at our history with lenses of victimization, or lenses of co-creation. If we have developed a personal cosmology that helps us understand how we were creators of all our interactions, we reach a state of Grace. Grace is the experience of releasing people from the judgments of our past; of accepting responsibility for all our actions, and of viewing our history with compassion and ownership. If we have a cosmology that gives meaning to our life, releases us from shame, and answers our "why's" with satisfaction, we reach a state of bliss and joy.

Happiness is our birthright. Pleasure is the body's way of telling us we are on the right path. When we are happy; when we trust the world and ourselves; when we can move through life with confidence and pride, we transform everything we touch to beauty. This transformation is critical to the final stages of our journey, as it becomes the legacy we leave for future generations. In our happiness, we share ourselves - our experience, our wisdom and our love. We scatter hope in our wake, encouraging others to trust and believe in the beauty of life. We reclaim our birthright of innocence, seeing life and the world with awe and wonder, trusting our place in the bigger story

EARTH - RESTORATION - EMPATHY - ARCHETYPE: GREAT MOTHER

Our journey through the first Four Harmonics creates the Fifth Harmonic - the environment. This environment will either be depleted and unable to support the four equally, or it will be abundant, beautiful and self-sustaining. Each element is responsible for feeding the subsequent element; if one element becomes stingy or greedy, the rest suffer, and the environment disintegrates. When the elements become miserly, the ecosystem has less to offer in the next cycle. There are fewer resources for each element to achieve it's purpose. With fewer resources, the elements can become more stingy, and bequeath only enough for survival to the next element. Unable to trust the resources are coming, the elements can disconnect from each other and try to pursue their own purpose independently. When it is time to pass the baton to the next element, they may hang onto resources and/or try to pursue their own agenda past its proper timing. Breakdowns occur in communication; in distribution; and in harmony. Rather than a symphony of balanced archetypes, we find ourselves living in a fragmented and stressful way.

These Five Harmonics™ are reflected in the world we have created. Some days, the extreme amount of bad news about the degrading of our world can overwhelm us, or lead to depression, addiction or closing off our feelings. If we can see that restoring balance to our own environment will create change in the bigger world, then we can get up each morning confident that our existence here has meaning - and that we have the power to enact great changes. Every day we have choices - do we choose to be victims or creators? Do we choose to touch others with suspicion or compassion? Do we choose to find balance in our own lives, or do we blame others for our lack of joy? Do we choose to pursue suffering, or pleasure? Every choice we make transforms our environment. What will your legacy be?

Life is a fractal. Here we have an image of a supernova at the center of the atom to show how all things follow the same natural patterns. Nature is our true teacher.
