Emotions as Teachers

In the model of the Five Harmonics™, there are no negative emotions. The five master emotions, Grief, Fear, Anger, Joy and Sympathy are specific feelings that are meant to guide us in our journey. Emotion is an evolving, maturing energy. The purpose of mature emotions is not to go away (like anger, grief, etc) but to understand how to listen to the wisdom that comes with each feeling and then take right action.

Emotion and The Collective Unconscious

We share one emotional body. Each of us is plugged into the collective unconscious, or the global emotional body. If you think about the implications of this, it allows us to have full access to all experience. For example, if my sense of empathy is well developed, I can listen to your story and feel the exact feelings you felt when you were going through your experience. This gives me a larger repertoire than I can ever have myself. Because my brain cannot tell the difference between an actual experience and a well-imagined experience, each story I can empathetically relate to provides me with an experience that I didn't necessarily have to commit time or resources to have. What a wonderful opportunity!

Emotion is a fourth dimensional experience - not bound by time or space. Think of something that still pushes a button for you years after it happened - that is time travel at its most basic. Because of this quality, emotion is the key to healing our past. Emotional Technologies™ has spent over a decade developing a system for bringing the past into the present, creating wholeness and healing.

Archetypes, or Multiple Personality Order

Each of us is a collection of selves. With over 50 trillion individual cells in our bodies, each of them carrying all potential for expression, we are an entire planetary environment. The relationship these cells have with each other affects the environment (the body), and the environment affects the relationship of the cells.

In my work, I use the Chinese Five Element Tradition as a foundation. This foundation breaks us into four separate "nations". Metal is the nation of structure. The inhabitants of Metal like to build frameworks and bring order to chaos. Water is the nation of dreamers, visionaries, artists and psychics. They like to explore outside of what passes for conventional reality. The nation of Wood is filled with heroes, champions and adventurers. They love to strike out into the wilderness and enact heroic stories. Fire is a nation of children filled with wonder and awe, knowing the world is a paradise that brings us all we need. The Fifth element, Earth, is the environment, both the external environment that puts stresses on our cells, and our internal environment, the one created by the relationship between the four nations.

When these "nations", or archetypal energies are working together, their combined power can create any reality imagined. When these nations are disconnected, they spend all their resources trying to achieve their separate dreams. This separateness causes gaps between our personalities. The bigger the gaps, the more disjointed our lives become. The less cooperative each nation becomes, the more resources are required to maintain each nation's separate dream (often because the dream of one nation compromises the environment from being able to support the other nations).

Emotional Technologies™ is fascinated with bringing the inner nations into harmony. When our cells, our emotional archetypes, our multiple personalities are working together, we will see the external environment change to match our internal environment. When our collective inner intelligence pools its resources and focuses on one story that meets all nation's needs - well, guess how much fun that could be?

Co-creation

Emotional Technologies™ believes that every experience we have is one we have created. Some of our experiences are created consciously; many of them are created unconsciously by deeply buried beliefs or unhealed traumas. If we understand how we are creating our lives, we can change them. By going back and picking up the parts of ourselves "left in the dust", and learning how to identify patterns of limitation, we can create and co-create realities that exceed our wildest dreams.

Fractal Universe

"That which is above is the same as that which is below..macrocosmos is the same as mircrocosmos. The Universe is the same as God. God is the same as man. Man is the same as the cell. The cell is the same as the atom. the atom is the same as....and so on, ad infinitum". from The Emerald Tablets by Hermes Trismegistrus. According to esoteric teachings, all things are contained within all other things. Life is a repeating pattern. This includes behaviors. Destiny, you might say, is simply being carried along in a repetitive fractal pattern. Free Will is the ability to recognize the pattern, and use it to move to a different part of the pattern.

On a biological level, all cells carry the potential to be any other kind of cell. If we all carry the same potential for any kind of expression, and we also share the same emotional body, the statement "we are all one" carries great weight. Emotional Technologies™ believes that because we all carry the same potential, what makes each of us unique is the combination of expressions we choose. Just as no two artists paint the same still life exactly alike, no two humans, even identical twins, create the same life.

The Power of Language

Language defines our world. When we change the way we speak and think, our environment changes. Emotional Technologies™ is committed to helping others understand the tremendous creative power of the spoken word. If every word you said came true the moment you said it, what would your life be like?

Body Postures

The human body accesses archetypal energy through physical postures. Many of the statues we see in Egyptian and Mayan temples are postures that lead to specific states of transcendence.

The body is a holy temple of doorways to archetypal experiences. Emotional Technologies™ incorporates physical postures and actions to change states of reality.

crayons

We are made up of many different desires, longings, beliefs, needs and expressions. All of these things are like different colored crayons. Our life is the portrait we paint using those colors. The more crayons we recognize and use, the more colorful our life will be.

"One's body is not one's self. Neither are one's emotions, perceptions, desires, or even one's consciousness. All those things are partial aspects, not one's absolute essence. We have no absolute essence. We are ever-changing aggregates of components that constantly come and go."   Buddhist philosophy

The simplest definition of the archetypes is that they are symbols of our own enormous potential. In particular they depict potential that still remains unconscious, and the details of archetypal dreams shows us how we are relating to that potential.

“..when you fall in love, you can’t imagine anything ahead but bliss. It feels so free to fall in love. You run ahead, arms wide open, and all the unloving parts of yourself get left behind. You wave goodbye and rush thrillingly into your perfect future. That’s the moment of tasting the bliss, shall we say. Its energy can last only so long, however. As your sight clears and you realize that you must live in the everyday world, bliss is still possible. To have it, you must return to all those stranded parts of yourself that you left in the dust. Oh, how you wish you didn't have to look at them again! All that ugliness. So much shame and guilt and humiliation that you never deserved the first time. Some stragglers are whiney and weak, like bedraggled orphans. Some are puffed up with self-rightousness and pride like cheap con men. There is anger and rage, anxiety and dread - I couldn't’t name the countless bits of your normal self that haven’t been uplifted by love.

But unpleasant as they are, if you go back and give them love, they add to your bliss. The journey of the return brings reconciliation. It brings a ripening. It brings acceptance of who you are. Because love isn't’ saying ‘come to me when you’re good enough and I will cherish you forever’. It’s saying ‘Bring me everything you are, and I will make it worthy to be loved’. The journey of return is what makes you real, and once it’s done, you remain real forever.”  -Deepok Chopra

GUEST HOUSE by Rumi

This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

"The structures of language influence the structures of thought: not simplistically, but subtly. The way you're trained to speak predisposes you to patterns in the way you think. Is isn't that you're incapable of thinking in other ways; it's just that you find some thoughts easier to articulate than others. Also, growing children hear more talk about easy-to-express topics than topics the language makes difficult. Inevitably, this affects their social and intellectual development - some thoughts are "normal" while others aren't".
