APPROPRIATE EXPRESSION OF ANGERI consider rage work to be some of the most important emotional healing available. Anger is a specific feeling that is designed to steer us. When we are off course, or continually being interrupted, or our actions do not match our words, we generate anger. Because it is seen as a "negative" emotion, we often build elaborate structures to avoid feeling it. Yet anger is the fuel that drives us. Mature anger is never angry - instead, it is focused, committed, and can hold its position through adversity. It is the part of us that can become rigid and stand strong, yet relax and move off the position when a stand is no longer needed. We all get angry. We all want to blame others at times for what we are going through. This is normal human behavior. Bottling up this feeling only warps it and twists it into something rageful and hateful. This emotional energy gets trapped in the collective unconscious, where it is often expressed by young people who don't have the tools to transform it. Suddenly, they are being run by the current of rage they find themselves swimming in. If our Wood element is asked to commit action to a victim reality, anger will be present throughout every action. This will show up as criticism, inappropriate competition, comparison, vicious gossip, passive-aggressive behavior, and “it’s not my fault” excuses. Anger tells us that we are off the chosen path. Anger tells us that we need a boundary to keep the pressure built up. Anger tells us that we are being diverted from our goal. Anger tells us that we are being interrupted on our quest for someone else’s needs. Anger tells us we’re working in a victim structure where no amount of skill will take us to our goal. Anger tells us our Warrior is taking a position he does not really believe in, and that makes him furious. Anger says we are angry at ourselves for not slaying the dragons of cultural beliefs and choosing new, exciting structures built on integrity, equality and fairness. Anger says it’s not fair. Anger says don’t make me go down this road. Anger says, this way is not taking me to Joy– it either has no meaning for me personally, the reward is too far away, or the actions you are asking me to take are out of integrity. Anger says, I want to be physical. I want to use my body with strength. Anger says, listen to me and let my wisdom guide you to a path of adventure. Rage work is a wonderful way of harnessing our anger and blasting through the frequency of victimization into the frequency of creation. When I feel a victim reality swirling close to me, I put my rage doll on the steps and every time I go up, I do 10 seconds of rage work. It is absolutely amazing how quickly my reality shifts. If everyone did rage work once a week for ten minutes, I do believe war would be impossible, because there would be no fuel to sustain it. I encourage you all to practice doing rage work, if for no other reason than to bleed off some of the hatred that is built up on our planet. Don't feel angry? Read the news. Don't be afraid to express your anger in this way - the energy generated by this work is sacred as it never leaves your emotional field, and is invited to transform. Whereas anger that is ignored or denied leaves your energetic field and goes out into the world creating havoc. When immature anger is invited into a sacred space and expressed without judgment, it matures and transforms to love. Really. Try it! Yes, the dolls are for sale. You can order one here. They're $50 each and guaranteed. If you break one during regular rage work, we'll replace them. These dolls have been hard at work for over twelve years, transforming hundreds of people's anger into productive energy.
