Sustainability
12/30/24
Having a retreat coming up is great for my feminine brain. I have to put a ton of energy into creating the curriculum, making handouts and fancy booklets, etc. One of the things on my list of offerings this winter is visualizing a new way of being in the world. And since I can’t ask my class to do work that I haven’t already done, I’ve gone back to my “welcome 2022” template and have been making notes about inspired ideas that have come since then.
One of the things I have been thinking about a lot is sustainability. Not the current form of “how much can we take from the earth while leaving the bare minimum”, but rather, how could we live more like the earth was before we cut down so many trees and killed off so many animals. Ancient trees, miles of forests, clean rivers and lakes…..that stayed that way. That led me to think about numbers of people, and how do you manage billions of people with limited resources?
Then an idea formed in my mind. I remember back in the 70’s, when marijuana was first making its way through the midwest, and one of the things we all believed (where this idea came from I have no idea, but it was accepted by everyone I knew who smoked) was that cannibas had a REVERSE TOLERANCE. That meant that the more you smoked, the less you needed. It was a belief, a thing ascribed to. And then it slowly began to fade from our consciousness until no one ever mentioned it again.
I have been thinking a lot about medicine lately - both pharmaceutical and naturapathic - and one thing I realized is that in our western mind set, we don’t really talk about that as the body heals, it needs LESS of everything, and a higher vibration of what it WAS taking. And thinking back to reverse tolerance, what if the body heals best as we take less and less of whatever the “thing” is, and we do more and more to raise our frequency?
And that is how the earth could support billions of people sustainably. What if we didn’t need to eat dead food? What if our diets were supplemented with energy? Sun breathing, grounding, flower essences and homeopathics - what if we believed we could speak to our cells and keep them in a constant state of health? What if we understood the connection between emotional and physical wellness and could use that to return ourselves to perfect health each time we got “ill”?
I am not a big believer that we get “sick” from something outside of ourselves. I subscribe to the terrain theory of wellness. (Think of a goldfish in a bowl of dirty water. You don’t give the fish drugs to stay healthy, you clean the bowl. That’s the terrain theory). I think colds and flu are the body’s detox system. It seems to come when we shut our houses up for the winter, and coincides with the season of sugar. (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine’s Day, Easter). There is a lot of new research showing cancer may be fungal/parasitic in nature. Our ideas of illness may need an upgrade as we decide how we want to live in the future. What we put into our bodies - our food, our media, our relationships - determines the quality of our life. If our body is a temple, time to throw out the moneychangers and sweep it clean.
So part of our time in Mexico will be spent learning how the body speaks, how to listen and respond, and how to work with the Nature Intelligence of our own bodies. Maybe we will all come home healthier, happier and buzzing at a higher frequency!!
