In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.

From Metal we move to Water. Here we experience a disintegration of structures. Water is the element of epic stories - the archetypes of greatness compel us to explore huge, archetypal stories. Nothing is hidden from us in Water. If there are secrets, we will find them. If there are disconnections, we will see them. We become acutely aware of the discrepancies within our tribe, the areas where what they preach differ from how they act. We become disillusioned with the inconsistencies and outright lies our tribe presents, and the bigger our disillusionment, the more we reject their structures and beliefs.

The years from 14 to 27, are years of rebellion against hypocrisy and resistance to our elders frameworks that seem outdated and useless to the new world we are creating. We begin surfing the cyberspace of our imagination, looking for new and exotic ideas. This is often the time of experimentation with drugs, as drugs, particularly plant based, take us well beyond our perception of what it means to be human. You might say that in Water, we learn about the parts of ourselves that are outside the human spectrum. We flip through personalities like a deck of cards, never able to hold ourselves into one shape for very long. This is the nature of the Water cycle - to experience many different aspects of the self!

During this 13 year period, we shift and change and pick up information that allows us to assemble our identity. Gathering various archetypes together, we form a personal identity for ourselves. Often during these years we need to leave the tribe to find our individuality. Water is a time of great change, shapeshifting, and experimentation with all potential. It is NOT time to ask children to choose a life path.

Scared and Sacred are the same word, only presented differently. When we experience chronic fear, the best way to deal with it is to find a way to make the thing we fear sacred.  Whether that is a ritual we perform with intent and honor each time our fear arises, or a community healing ceremony we attend, or.....whatever we can do to make something sacred, we stop feeding our energy to the fear.  This is one way that together, we can change the world.

If you are a Water personality, you may be a change agent - creating chaos in your wake while imagining outrageous new ways of living.
