WINTER SOLISTICE

Element of WATER

THE STILLNESS POINT

The Longest Night of the Year

The weather here in MN is perfect for a solstice – bitter cold, high winds, lots of drifting snow – in short, the recipe for staying home and going within.

Water represents emotion and forces within our psyche. It presents an environmental metaphor for the internal waters of the soul. The emotion spilling over, unconscious escaping, flooding, leaking, dripping, consuming, drowning. High tides and turbulence. but also freedom, self understanding and growth.

The Hopi believe that rain comes because the underground aquifers set up a magnetic attraction to the moisture in the sky. They believe that draining these aquifers will bring drought. Their observations seem to be true, and the same can be said for humans. We are made up of 80% water, and as such, are governed by the same laws. When we do not have enough “water” energy in reserve, we do not have a strong enough attraction for the abundance we desire. We may see our dreams at a distance, yearning for them to come closer, but held apart by a lack of aligned emotion.

Winter is the season of refilling our aquifer – making sure we have enough liquid to attract our desired goal. It is a time of sitting back and watching what comes near, then making adjustments to those things we have completed, or things we no longer desire. I was watching a video of Abraham, channeled by Ester Hicks, and what was said made so much sense. If you focus on it and talk about it, you will have more of it in your life. So, focus on and talk more about what you desire, and speak naught of the things you no longer choose. Mend your nets during this time of silence and introspection. Avoid crowds and over scheduling yourself. If you must be with family, find ways to be efficient – one or two larger gatherings rather than many small ones. Sleep, rest, daydream, stare at a fire – pull yourself out of the myriad realties crashing around out there and settle into your personal environment. Clean closets if you feel energized. Discard what is no longer needed. Rearrange the furniture. Prepare yourself for success.

Winter solstice marks the six-week point of withdrawal from the outside world. From November 5 to December 21, our energy is like a bow-string tightening up, readying our arrow to shoot forth. From December 21 to February 5, we hold that bow steady, waiting for the right target upon which to release the arrow of action. Our emotional aquifer pulls resources, dreams, events to us. It is so important to AVOID ACTION until the target is close enough for us to hit it. Letting go of the arrow too soon means loss of energy. Letting go before our target is close enough to nail, and we miss a golden opportunity. Striking off into action too soon can drain the aquifer and leave us with little to no resources for the coming year.

The hardest part for everyone seems to be the holding back, the going within, the waiting. Our culture defines value by doing – if we are not “productive” every minute of the day, surely we have no value. Yet this time of the year it is essential that we withdraw and do nothing other than be still and fill our well.
How do we know when it is time to take action? When synchronicity brings events or things to us with ease. If you pay attention, you will see that you are attracting things in a linear fashion - things that need to handled for the next thing to come in and land upon. So sit back and pay attention to what is going on within your personal environment. Do not get distracted by "out there".

Winter is a time when the boundaries between realities are blurred. You may have noticed that there are hundreds and thousands of realities out there all clamoring for your attention. “Me, I’m the one” they shout and scream, demanding that their story is THE story, the story worth the investment of your precious belief. We are seeing a collapse of all those stories that were built with inferior products and lack of integrity. This is a time for you to work on YOUR story. Your abundance does not depend on Wall Street, or big business, or government. Your abundance is your birthright. The world will bring whatever you need to support your dream, as long as it knows what your dream is! Let me emphasize how important this is. When you are clear what your dream is, and you do not lose sight of it, the laws of attraction will bring your dream to you. You must let go of thinking you know the HOW of your dream – HOW is not your job. Your job is to be specific what your dream looks like. The more specific the faster it comes. This is the season of hunkering down and getting specific.

Watch what is drawn to you each and every day, and take action with the things that appear. If it is a relationship conflict, look to see if you are continuing a pattern that does not work. How could you resolve this conflict in a different way? If it is a pattern about money, what are you doing the same that may need to change? Trust that what is right in front of you is the very thing you need to move through to get closer to your dream.

And finally, let’s not forget the stars. I have had a theory for many years, that Seasonal Affective Disorder is not only caused by a lack of sunlight, but more importantly, by a lack of starlight. Think about it – in the winter, we are treated with up to 18 hours of starlight. Our bodies are made of the same substance as the galaxies, and we receive different kinds of information from different wave lengths of light. Sunlight gives us certain types of information; moonlight another, and starlight even more. These long dark nights are perfect for allowing yourself to drink in the light of distant galaxies and align your body to a higher order. Jump in the car, head for the closest dark spot, and spend fifteen minutes soaking up stellar energy. Your body will work more efficiently, you will feel better and you’ll be seasonally aligned with your personal galaxy.

I wish you much joy and abundance in this time of stillness.

Blessings!

" If you want to change attitudes, start with a change in behavior. In other words, begin to act the part, as well as you can, of the person that you would rather be, the person you most want to become. Gradually, the old, fearful person will fade away.
